During the Pandemic - Appointments

All clinics are by appointment only, please contact the practice to arrange an appointment. During the pandemic we are only releasing our appointments on the day at 08:00 in the morning. This is to monitor any patient who could have COVID symptoms.

Alternatively you can use our online consult Click here to take you to the online consult - Complete the form and the practice will be in touch within 2 working days.

Routine Appointments

GP appointments are available to book on the day and also in advance. This is to accommodate the varied needs of our patient population and increase patient choice and access.

We try to offer the GP of your choice, where possible. Our trained receptionists will ask you for a brief reason for the appointment. This is to enable us to direct you to the most appropriate clinician, and in some circumstances we may be able to deal with your need by an alternative method other than a face-to-face consultation, with one of our extended clinical staff for example our pharmacist, MSK or Health Improvement Practitioner. Appointments are 10 minutes long. If you have a number of issues to discuss please make separate appointments.

If you feel your problem can be dealt with via the telephone, please contact our receptionist.

Emergency Appointments

We have extra slots for emergencies but these are embargoed to be release on the day. For those patients with a truly urgent medical issue, you will be offered an appointment the same day. This will be with which ever GP is on call that day, you will not be able to pick your GP.

Telephone Appointments

We also offer telephone appointment with all our GP’s. This service can be used for many purposes, including discussing results, advice, reassurance, referrals, etc. There are appointments available every day with each GP. Please inform the receptionist who was originally dealing with your initial issue so that we can try to keep continuity, however please be aware this may not always be possible.

7 day Extended Access Appointment

As a patient at our practice, if you would like to see a GP or Practice Nurse for a routine appointment in an evening (after 18:30) or at the weekend, we are able to offer you weekday evening and weekend appointments at one of the Bolton GP Extended Access Hubs.

Bolton’s GP practices have joined together, through their GP Federation, to offer appointments in the evenings and at weekends. These appointments are with Bolton GPs and Bolton Practice Nurses and are available via the Extended Primary Care Service provided by Bolton GP Federation on behalf of practices across Bolton.

If you would like one of these appointments, please speak to the reception staff who will be able to offer a wide range of clinicians.

Home Visits

Home visits are reserved for those patients who are terminally ill or genuinely bedbound. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

  • Remember it takes a doctor approximately 40mins to do a home visit with travelling time
  • Do you think your problem could be dealt with over the phone? - please visit the appointments tab for telephone requests

If you think a home visit is necessary please phone the surgery before 10.00am as this will help us organise our day. The receptionist may ask for further details. This information is confidential and is required by the doctor to decide which calls should be given priority. Please leave a current phone number as the doctor may ring you back to discuss the visit request

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Chaperones

All medical consultations, examinations and investigations are potentially distressing. Intimate examinations can be embarrassing or distressing for patients and whenever a clinician examines a patient they should be sensitive to what the patient may think of as intimate.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and they will arrange this for you and book a double appointment.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
